📖 Darkly Dreaming Dexter

📖 read

Link to book

Perhaps this has been going on for sometime but I do not appreciate book covers replaced because the tv show has been successful. For example, the original cover for this book (which I have used in my review) is:

If you buy this book today, you will get the following book cover:

I do not appreciate this. Anyway, let's focus on the story itself.

There are important distinction between the book and tv show. The TV show creators made the needed changes to properly portray Dexter's character.

Now that I have just read the book, I was curious what ChatGPT would say the differences are. I appreciated ChatGPT provided a spoiler free response:

🛑 SPOILERS 🛑

Reluctantly, I have to admit, ChatGPT got a lot of things right. I suppose that is our future. I hope people continue to read the book. It is through reading it, you experience joy, excitement, thrill, and suspense.

Speaking of suspense, having watched the TV show, I knew how the book was going to end. That killed a little of the suspense. Thankfully, I was pleasantly surprised. The book has many notable differences. For example, the character of Maria LaGuerta dies at the end of the book but is very much alive in the TV show. In the book, Debra Morgan has a significant storyline where she dates Dexter's brother, which doesn't exist in the book. I kept waiting for this to happen 🤣.

I am looking forward to reading the other books in the series.
