📱 I bought an iPhone 13 Mini in 2024

🍎 apple

My relationship with the iPhone 13 Mini has been like none other. It wasn't my most used device (I previously had it for a short period), but it certainly was the only smartphone that distracted me the least.

Lately, my focus (or lack thereof) has been unstable to the extent that, at times, I just cannot focus on what's important. These moments are not the norm. Usually, I have pretty superb control over my focus and have the willpower to not get sucked in by the infinity pools of my smartphone.

In Australia, we still get iPhones that can accommodate a physical sim. When I go through these phases in life, I will transfer the sim from my iPhone 15 Pro Max to my iPhone 13 Mini. This 13 Mini will not have any distracting apps. It will have the bare minimum and nothing more.

The tech aficionados in me always wanted to have the iPhone 13 Mini. In my mind, it symbolises an intentional approach to say NO to large distracting screens that keep us hooked. It's the only device in recent memory from Large Tech that does not keep you glued to it.

I woke up at 2:15am this morning and despite my numerous attempts, I couldn't go back to sleep. Usually and fortunately, sleep is a solved problem for me, but not today. It is during this time that I decided to purchase the iPhone 13 mini. I noticed eBay Australia was running a 22% sale on refurbished phones and after applying the discount, a 256gb iPhone 13 Mini in excellent condition costs me USD380. This is not nothing money. It's a lot of money.

To keep an element of fun in whimsical, I bought the iPhone in the colour PINK.

Only time will tell how well this experiment will work. Either way, I fulfill my desire to have an iPhone Mini today. If you see things from my perspective, you release that the existence of the iPhone Mini is a miracle, and that is just one of the many reasons this device is special to me.
