πŸ‘¨β€πŸ”§ I fixed a tiny thing that bothered me for months

πŸ›Ÿ life

Sometimes, we overlook the small things in life and only focus on the big ones. However, these small things can accumulate over time and create stress and tension. Our minds become preoccupied with the thought that if we can't handle the simple tasks, how can we achieve something significant? This is something that my mind often ponders.

In mid-2022, I attached a hook to my dashboard. I hung the garage door remote on it, and it worked perfectly. I felt really satisfied with how well it served its purpose. Over the years, the garage door remote would often get lost in the car since it didn't have a dedicated place. In any case, having a designated spot for the garage door remote was fantastic. It was wonderful, right up till the point that it wasn’t :(

Last December, the adhesive weakened thanks to the harsh Australian summer and once again the garage door remote was homeless. For the last six months, every time I am in the car, it reminded me that this needs to be fixed.

Now, most of you will think, how hard can it be? Just peel the dam thing off. Now, that is not the right way of doing things. If I simply pull it off, the adhesive residue will remain forever to torment me.

This Saturday afternoon when it was pouring outside, I spent 10 minutes in my car. I used my wife’s hair dryer to heat the adhesive, further weakening it. Thereafter, I sprayed the magical WD40 spray, and with some force, wiped it off with an old cloth.

The result was a clean dashboard, good as new.

I also found a new spot for the garage door remote and let's say, it's not going anywhere, anytime, soon. Dare I say, it’s Australian weather proof.Β

I agree, this is a small matter, but it feels like an enormous weight has been lifted off my mind. It has been bothering me for months. Maybe I am quirky that way. I am who I am. Β

I accepted it years ago. Maybe it's time for you to do the same. 😜
