💻 Linux where there is will, there is a way

After my Linux laptop plan got cancelled, I have felt uneasy. I had to find another way.

Then, it occured to me, Linux can run on any device, actually when most operating system stop supporting their devices, linux provides these abandon devices longevity. If that is the case, I have an aging MacBook 13 inch Pro M1 that works like a dream but its a spare machine and surely there is a way to linux on it.

Anyway, between spending time with my family and my son, I have been going through the process of installing Linux on my MacBook.

This is how this mere civilian likes to spend a Friday night 😂

The initial download took for ever, I suppose, being in Melbourne, I was too far away from the host which is why the downloads were so slow. I have decent internet connection, yet its downloading at less than 60 KiB/s which is a joke. I was patient, actually I was busy with living my life so didn't mind these things running in the background.

It was past 10pm and couldn't go to sleep. I had to see linux running on my MacBook. FYI, on most nights, I am fast a asleep by 10 to 10:15pm. Not tonight!

Its 11:16pm... the process is still ongoing... currently downloading some random package.. eta is 2 minutes... which feels like two hours. I am sleepy. Might call it today. Perhaps, I am too old for this.....

To keep myself awake, I am watching Elsbeth. Lighthearted murder mystery tv show on Paramount. It's cute, its amazing, it makes me smile, Carrie Preston is unbelievable 🌟

Saturday morning.....

Linux does not appear to have made any progress. According to Google Gemini, it said that Linux installation requires input from me but the laptop keyboard is not working. I got an external keyboard from Kmart which also didn't work.

I had a busy Saturday so I only got opportunity to work on this until after dinner. At this point, I decided to start fresh.

I started the process fresh and would you believe it, within 15 minutes, I had Fedora up and running on my MacBook M1 Pro. Go figure 🤷‍♂️

Most certainly, I must have screwed up on the first go.

All that said, my Linux journey has only started..... I am excited 🤩
