🛄 My Travel Packing Philosophy

✈️ travel

When it comes to packing for travel, experts recommend being minimal...some go further, by only taking carry on luggage.

Having travelled a lot, the minimal approach appeals to me. But, I am a practical man... I am also a family man.

So when I travel, I take as much as possible (within reason)... being prepared for everything and not wasting time buying stuff there

I am going to New Zealand soon with my wife and 3-year-old son. The following is what we taking:

  • Large suitcase (checked-in)
  • Medium suitcase (checked-in) (this one is mine, I have it for over 15 years and still going strong. Although, it does have a few cracks so this may be it's last trip. I am hesitant to let it go)
  • Duffle bag (my son's bag) (checked in)
  • Three backpacks (carry on)
  • One sling (carry on)
  • One pram (carry on)

This seems like a lot, and it is. A big part of travelling is being stress free. Having the peace of mind is more important to me than travelling with only one carry-on bag. That may change in the future... but for now, this is how this mere civilian family travels.
